Yesterday was my last day in the office. So my colleague took me to have a lunch at Jamaican restaurant. I had Jerk Chicken with Rice & Pea and Coleslaw. It was not bad. And I thought if you just replace the Rice & Pea with Sticky Rice, it will become our popular Thai food, Sticky Rice with Roasted Chicken and Papaya Salad (¢éÒÇà˹ÕÂÇä¡èÂèÒ§ÊéÁµÓ).
In the evening after work, Ioana, one of my colleague who have been in Thailand working with our team, took me to show around the city. We went to Greek town trying to find something to buy. She wanted to buy some cheese from the famous store named Global Cheese, but it was so crowded and we didn't have much time. So we left that store without buying anything.
Then we planned to go to Italian town. I wish I would get a chance to try the TTC streetcar, but I was not lucky enough. The streetcar doesn't take us to our destination. So we took a bus to go to Italian town. It was my first time riding the Toronto bus anyway. While we were on the bus, she called to her husband and found out that he was driving around there. So we got off the bus and waited for him to pick us.
Finally we reached Italian town. The street was closed to allow people to walk on the street like when we have an event on Silom road. There were many shops and performing stages. We felt a little bit hungry, so we stopped at a coffee shop and had some dessert and coffee. When we finished filling something into our stomach, we continued walking along the street. I bought some chocolate from a shop. Ioana got a movie DVD too. The DVD we found here was only $8 (CAD). It's quite cheap comparing to ones in HMV store.
Then, we went back to the car and drove to some place which I don't remember the name. On the way, while we were passing Korean town, I just knew that they have their own town separately because I always thought that we can find Korean stuffs in the China town. We arrived the place and parked the car. We walked to a street which I don't remember the name too. We expected to see some festivals here, but there was none. Instead, there was a wedding party. So we got back into the car again and moved forward to Indian town to have the dinner.
On the way to Indian town, while we were on the street near Lake Ontario, I saw a ship splashing water out of it like a fountain. I asked them what it was. Ioana's husband said it's called fireboat used to fight fires on ships.
We arrived Indian town and had a little difficulty finding a parking, but eventually we found one. We parked and went to the restaurant. Ioana told me that she always goes shopping around here because it is very close to her house. We had buffet Indian food in the restaurant. I forgot to tell you something. Ioana and her husband were so sweet. They always smile, giggle and tease each other. I wish one day I could have a girlfriend to do this sweet things too.
After the dinner, we went to the Bridle Path street. They told me that it was the place where the rich people live. All houses looked great and very large. We also saw a busstop there and wondered that which people here who have that big houses will take a bus. Finally we assumed that it might be for the people who clean those houses. Here I got a new word too. The concrete bars on the street which Thai people call "worms" (µÑÇ˹͹) is called "speedy bump" here which I think it makes sense.
On the way we were driving to my apartment, the car got a big jerk like there was something hit us from the back. And that thing was a van whose driver was a Chinese man. None of us got hurt. We all got off the car and went to see the damage. The rear bumper was bashed and the rear door was open. A teenage girl came to see us and told that she got hit by our car too, but she said her car didn't get a serious damage. So she left us with the van driver. Ioana and her husband went to see the van driver and wrote down some of his information such as name, telephone number, license number, etc. She told me that it was her first time for a car accident. She was shaking. I thought I might be the unlucky man who bring this bad luck to them, but I didn't say anything because they may not understand our belief. Ioana called her dad and the police. We waited for a while and police didn't come, so they decided to give their phone number to the van driver and drove me home.
Finally I arrived my apartment safely. I thanked to them many times. They were so nice. It was my best day in Toronto. ^_^ |
